Lisa Gray

Lisa Gray from Randolph, Vermont, has been a member of LACA for 3 years.   Lisa says, “I have been a crafter for 40 +/- years. I started very young doing sewing projects with my mother. My current craft of choice is soap and bath products which I just began around 4 years ago. The idea actually came from blackberry picking in my back yard. I was putting together Christmas baskets for my family and my theme turned out to be blackberry. I was trying to come up with at least 5 items that included blackberry. I stumbled upon melt and pour goat milk soap to which I added a blackberry/sage fragrance.  After doing this for the Christmas baskets I discovered I really like making the soap and things just blossomed from there.”

In addition to Lisa's large line of soap, Lisa is also selling new items like seed bombs, hot cocoa mixes, painted glass, and homemade jam. (Photos of the soap will be posted later in the show.)

Dorothy Hayes

Dorothy Hayes from Quechee, Vermont, has been a member of LACA for 16 years.  Crafting has been a lifelong endeavor and a way to keep busy throughout her life. She produces mainly sewn items, like Christmas ornaments, household decor, kitchen/dining tableware, small purses.  She also knits hats, scarves, and booties for small children.

She is inspired by the smallest things that she sees in her daily life and by “talking to other crafters and hearing their enthusiasm.”  This inspiration means that fans of her work see new craft products each year.

For the aspiring or experienced crafters, Dorothy encourages all to ask questions and learn from peers to cultivate inspiration and to continually improve their products and displays.

Dorothy Hayes has a variety of items including: Christmas stockings, stuffed animals, scarves, Christmas ornaments, wall hangings, and more.

Valerie and Carl Hill

Valerie and Carl Hill of Whitefield, New Hampshire, have been members of LACA since 2006. Valerie says, "My name is Valerie Mooers Hill and I make memories, by capturing the natural beauty through my photographs…I began to take photos with an eye towards beautifying other people's lives in 2000 but I have always loved grabbing that moment of unusual beauty when I see it.

Someone once told me there are only three elements to a good photograph; right place, right time and have camera. Without just one of those elements, the image does not exist."

Valerie likes to leave the house with a photography plan in mind but has found that nature’s spontaneity has other plans. The spontaneity results in photography that takes the form of all-season greeting cards, bookmarks, trivets/coaster, framed/unframed wall art.

Carl makes Valerie’s frames in addition to the turned wooden bowls and bud vases seen below.

Kay Mariotti

Kay Mariotti from White River Junction, Vermont, has been an LACA member since 1976.  At an early age her mother taught her how to crochet  and she has been using this skill ever since to make baby clothes, hats, and snowmen.  What Kay is best known for are her bears, which are a favorite at our shows.  Each bear, Kay says, “have their own personality and are so much fun to make.”

When not making products for craft shows, Kay uses her skill to make bears and dolls for the Dartmouth Hockey Team’s Christmas toy drive to support CHaD (Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth).

Besides her crochet bears, Kay Mariotti also has these Christmas decorating ideas available at this year's show. (Photos of her bears are coming soon.)
